Someone tipped my Savage over in a parking lot, in the wee hours of the weekend after Thanksgiving. Looked very sad, thought the right-side turn-signals were broken. When I righted it, they returned to their normal positions (took some wiggling).
But...
The right-side mirror was laying on the ground. Turns out, the mirror is sturdy, but it's mount isn't... it mounts into the clamp holding the front-brake master cylinder on the bar. It had cracked in half, looked like a nice grainy cast piece. Spent $25 at the dealer, waited a week, got the part and now I have two mirrors again. Woo-hoo!
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a "sacrificial" piece that would screw into the mount, mirror screws into that; so if the bike goes over, the "sacrificial" piece breaks, you unscrew it and remount the mirror.
If not, maybe I'll be paranoid and order a spare "holder" for the next time someone tips it (or I drop it). Or did I just have the mirror too tight? Hmmm...
